St. Georges Day is nearly upon us – Details for 1st Roffey

12 April 2017
The St Georges day parade this year is approaching and is being held on Sunday 23th April 2017 in Horsham town Center.  The route will be the same as it was last year starting behind the telephone exchange by the station and finishing in the Carfax around the bandstand.
All Scouts are required to attend as this is a renewal of their Scout Promise.  This is the only event in the Scouting calendar that we expect everyone to be present unless they have a very good reason not to be.
Full uniform is to be worn, ie scout shirt, trousers and Roffey scarf all washed and neatly ironed along with black smart shoes and their scout belt.  We will be in full view of the public so it is important that we look presentable, this includes not using mobile phones and wearing earphones during the parade and ceremony.  Coats will only be allowed to be worn over uniform if the weather is inclement so if it is cold please wear sufficient layers underneath your uniform.
The start time is 2.15pm in the car park behind the telephone exchange (near the station) on North Parade in Horsham.  Pick up time will be 3.45pm at the Post Office (site of old post office in the carfax).  The parade officially ends at 3.30 and as our collection point is close to the bandstand it might be advisable for parents to be around the area at 3.30 incase the parade finishes early like it did last year.
If you have any questions please contact any of the leaders.
